Commissionerate Police Busts Fake Note Racket, Rs 4.5 Lakhs Seized, 5 including Kingpin Held

Bhubaneswar:  The Commissionerate Police Sunday busted a fake currency note factory at Berhampur and arrested five persons including two masterminds in connection with the incident.

Basing on a tip-off, Tamando PS along with the QAT of Commissionerate Police apprehended three persons identified as Sarat Kumar Sahoo, Pranam Bhoi and Dilip Bhoi. The cops could seize Rs 15,600 of Rs 2000,Rs 500 and Rs 100 denominations forged notes from their possession.

After interrogation the three accused revealed that one Ramesh from Berhampur  had given these fake notes to circulate them in the market.

Following which two teams were formed to nab the main accuse involved in the racket. Taking much pain the teams nabbed Ramesh at Paluru Bangala Street.

Rs 4,49,550 fake currency notes in denominations of Rs 2000, Rs 500, Rs 200, Rs 100 and Rs 50, a colour printer, 22 cartridges, 9 rubber stamps, 22 paper cutters and 5 mobile phones were seized from the spot.

“In order to unearth the roots of the fake currency note racket, more investigation is required. The accused will be forwarded to court tomorrow. We will seek remand of the five for further questioning and probe,” said Twin City Commissioner of Police, YB Khurania.

Further investigation revealed that the racket was running since last four years and the fake notes were used to buy old hanuman coins, smuggling brown sugar and body parts of wild animals.
