Damodar Rout Floats New Party “Biju Samatakranti Dal”

Bhubaneswar: Months after being expelled from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Paradip MLA and former minister Damodar Rout today announced formation of a new party namely ‘Biju Samata Kranti Dal’.

Damodar announced the party’s name at a press meet in the presence of former MP and founder of Samata Kranti Dal, Braja Kishore Tripathy and Odisha Jana Morcha (OJM) chief Jagneswar Babu.

“While the ruling party has become corrupt, the Biju Samata Kranti Dal will preserve and promote the ideologies and principles of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik,” Rout said.

While Damo announced Tripathy as the chairman of the party, the latter said that since Rout is not interested in holding any post, he will work as the chairman of the party’s campaign committee.

The party will have wings in all 30 districts of the state.

Notably, the state ruling BJD President and Chief Minter Naveen Patnaik had expelled the veteran politician from the party on September 12 for his alleged ‘anti-party’ activities.
