Kolkata Girl Held Captive, Gang-Raped In Odisha for Over 10 Days

Konark: In a horrific incident, a woman was allegedly gang-raped for over 10 days at Konark in Puri district.

25-year-old girl from Kolkata was allegedly gang-raped by around 15 persons for 10 days inside a house at Konark Market Complex. Besides, she was allegedly forced into prostitution.

The girl, a resident of Kolkata, was brought to Odisha by a woman on the pretext of job, sources said.

The incident came to light after the woman managed to slip out of the room and screamed for help from the terrace. She was rescued by locals and police with the help of fire brigade personnel, who broke open the door of the room.

The girl, who was bleeding and writhing in pain, was immediately rushed to Gop community health centre and later shifted to Puri district headquarters hospital by Police.

Konark police has recovered some Aadhar cards from the room and launched a manhunt to arrest the accused involved in the crime.

A native of Howrah district, she was escorted to Konark by a middleman who promised her a job, sources said.

Narrating her agony to mediapersons in a choked voice, the victim said: “One girl had brought me here promising she will help me finding a job but kept in a lodge for some days and forced me into prostitution.” “Subash, Krishna and Raj, among others used to run the prostitution with the help of the woman”.

The house owner and the woman, who brought her to Odisha, are reportedly absconding.

The Konark police have launched an investigation into the incident and launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
