Leopard Found In Residential Area near Airport In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar:Panic gripped among denizens  in Odisha capital on Monday after a leopard was reportedly spotted at Palaspalli here the previous night.

The place where the leopard was spotted is adjacent to the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) and hardly few metres away from Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s residence.

Last night, locals were taken aback after seeing a leopard passing through the lanes in the area. CCTV footage corroborated the claims of the locals.

According to the CCTV camera footage, the leopard reportedly spotted in the compound of a commercial establishment in Palaspalli area in Bhubaneswar at around 10.30 pm yesterday. It was seen entering the compound.

To capture the straying big cat, a 25-member special team of the Forest Department led by the ranger and another team of Forest staff from Chandaka Wildlife Division arrived in Palaspalli on Monday afternoon.

Environmentalists speculate that the leopard strayed into the human habitation from Chandaka Sanctuary
