Naveen goes Green,Ban Plastic Use In Odisha From Oct 2

Bhubaneswar: With many states coming forward to enforce ban on plastic, the Odisha government is also set to prohibit usage of the synthetic material at all municipal corporations from October 2.

In another initiative to prevent people from using polyethylene, With a view to make Odisha a clean and green State.Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik today announced to impose ban on use of plastic from October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The plastic will be banned in all the municipal corporations of  Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Samalpur and Rourkela and Pilgrim city Puri from October 2 in first phase. Later, the use of plastic will be completely banned across Odisha in next two years, Patnaik said while giving message on environment awareness during a programme ‘Ama Mukhyamantri Ama Katha’ at state secretariat here today.

“No plastic cups, glasses and polythene bags will be allowed. We all must come together to achieve this goal”, he added.

On this occasion, Patnaik also urged the people of the State to plant at least one tree in this monsoon and take care of the plant to grow properly.

Earlier in June this year, the ban on use of plastic was enforced in Maharastra while the Uttar Pradesh government had also announced to impose a ban on the same from July 15.
