Odisha MLA Shoulders Ostracized Man’s Body To Graveyard,Sets Example

Amid several reports of people hesitating to carry bodies for cremation in Odisha due to ostracisation, BJD’s Rengali MLA Ramesh Patua has set an example for others by shouldering the lifeless body of an elderly man.

BJD’s Rengali MLA Ramesh Patua has set an example for the society by turning a pallbearer for the unclaimed body of an elderly man.

According to reports, an elderly man was living by begging in Amanapali area of the district for the last several years. After his death on Wednesday, nobody neither claimed nor shouldered it, allegedly because he was a beggar, to the cemetery ground to perform the last rites.

The body was unattended for about 24 hours, On being apprised about the incident by Laida police outpost in-charge, MLA Patua cancelled his scheduled programmes and recahed the spot with his two sons.

Immediately, Ramesh cancelled all his engagements,the legislator not only shouldered the body till the graveyard but also gave her a dignified burial.
