Sundargarh MLA Jogesh Singh Quits Congress, afer suspension, likely join BJD

In a major jolt to the Congress in Odisha ahead 2019 General Election,A day after his suspension from the party, two time Sundargarh MLA Jogesh Singh on Friday resigned from the Congress citing Moral Grounds.

In a letter to the Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Singh has informed about his decision to resign from the primary membership of the party as well as the post of the Member of Odisha Legislative Assembly.

“I came to know about the so called allegations against me, out of which one is praising the Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik ji and second one is regarding non participation in the upcoming party meeting by the President, AICC to be held on the 25th January 2019 due to my prescheduled engagements,” he said in the letter.

Singh questioned how praising Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is ranked as the best Chief Minister of India, can be termed as an anti-party activity when several Union Ministers from the Congress party had done the same during UPA regime.

He questioned how his pre-scheduled engagements, for which he expressed his difficulties to attend the AICC President’s meeting, and praise for CM Naveen Patnaik could be termed as ‘anti-party’ activities.

Singh questioned how praising Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is ranked as the best Chief Minister of India, can be termed as an anti-party activity when several Union Ministers from the Congress party had done the same during UPA regime.
