Union Civil Aviation Ministry Refuses To Declare Puri Grand Road As ‘No-Flying Zone’

Puri: The Union Civil Aviation Ministry rejected Odisha’s plea to declare the Puri Grand Road as ‘no-flying zone’ citing that the area was an international flying route.

Odisha Police had written to the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation for declaring Bada Danda in Puri as ‘no-flying zone’ during the upcoming Rath Yatra to ensure an incident-free and smooth festival.

The Ministry has clarified in a letter that the request cannot be considered as the Bada Danda is an international flying route. However, there will be no problem as the overseas passenger jets fly at a height of 35,000 feet.” Said Puri SP Sarthak Sadangi

Sarangi also informed that the Ministry commanded if any plane is flying at a height of 10,000 feet or below, then the pilot has to give the signal to the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar so that the police can be alerted accordingly.
