A total of 246 women of Kotia panchayat in Koraput’s Pottangi block will each receive a lump sum of Rs 15,000 under the Subhadra Yojana, irrespective of whether their Aadhaar cards are issued by the state government or neighbouring Andhra Pradesh government, on Saturday, August 9.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida made this announcement during her visit to the Koraput district today. Parida, who also holds the portfolio of women and child development, is on a two-day visit to Koraput to review the implementation of various development schemes of the state government.
According to Parida, these 246 women were previously excluded from the Subhadra scheme, which was launched in September last year.
Parida stated that even as these women in Kotia have an Aadhaar card from Andhra Pradesh, they will now be included in the scheme.
Parida further said that the 246 women will receive Rs 15,000 payment in three installments of Rs 5,000 each, which will be disbursed simultaneously. It will be given during a programme in Jeypore on Saturday which will be attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The Deputy CM has announced several development initiatives for the Kotia area. The plan includes strengthening the 26 existing anganwadi centers and establishing new ones as needed. Additionally, a Lakhpati Didi training center will be opened to provide women with skill-based training.
A mini-secretariat will be constructed in Kotia, which will consolidate various government offices to improve the implementation and monitoring of development projects.
Parida emphasized that the goal is the “holistic development of Kotia,” a region that has been the subject of a legal dispute between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh since 1968.
The Supreme Court has been handling the ownership dispute over 21 of the 28 villages in the Kotia panchayat since that time.
Subhadra Yojana
The Subhadra Yojana, a welfare scheme for women, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2024. The program aims to provide eligible women between the ages of 21 and 60 with a total of Rs 50,000 over five years, from 2024-25 to 2028-29.
The beneficiaries receive Rs 10,000 annually, paid in two installments of Rs 5,000 each. These payments are scheduled for Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day (March 8). The third installment, including the payments for the Kotia women, will be distributed by CM Majhi at Jeypore on August 9, which is Rakhi Purnima this year.
The Chief Minister is also scheduled to meet with women who have achieved the status of “Lakhpati Didis” by utilizing the funds from this scheme.
