Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a three-day official tour of Odisha starting Friday, July 4, highlights of which include launching BPCL’s new Rs 1,775-crore second-generation (2G) ethanol refinery in Bargarh, taking part in government events, and rolling out a host of infrastructure initiatives, according to official sources.
According to the sources, Shah will arrive at Jharsuguda on Friday evening for an overnight halt prior to heading to Baulsingha in the Bargarh district on Saturday morning.
The Union Home Minister is slated to inaugurate the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) 2G ethanol plant at Baulsingha and address a public gathering at around 11:50 AM, before proceeding to the neighbouring Sambalpur district.
Odisha Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari highlighted that the new ethanol facility will directly benefit local farmers while strengthening India’s clean energy independence.
Upon reaching Sambalpur, Shah’s itinerary includes participate in government programmes, offer prayers at the Maa Samaleswari Temple and inaugurate or lay the foundation stones for several projects at Remed ground. He will later travel to Bhubaneswar for an overnight stay.
On Sunday, the Home Minister will visit Badamba in Cuttack district to attend the official revival ceremony of the local Badamba Sugar Mill.
The ruling BJP had promised to revive the mill in its election manifesto.
Wrapping up his trip, Shah will head back to Bhubaneswar later that afternoon to grace the prestigious President’s Colour presentation ceremony for the Odisha Police force, ahead of his return flight to New Delhi that evening, state officials said.
