Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set for a packed one-day visit to Odisha on Friday. During his visit, he is scheduled to attend five official programmes and address a gathering at Paradip, according to official sources.
Initially expected to arrive on Thursday evening, Shah adjusted his itinerary due to prior commitments in Bihar and is now slated to land in Bhubaneswar at 10:25 AM on Friday, the sources said.
On Friday, the Home Minister’s first major engagement will be the Raising Day ceremony of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Mundali in Cuttack district, they said, adding that Shah will spend around two hours at the programme venue.
Following the ceremony in Cuttack’s Mundali, Shah will fly to Paradip to inaugurate a new sulphuric acid plant at the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO) (Paradip unit).
“The Home Minister will address a gathering at the IFFCO premises in Paradip,” said Bibhu Prasad Tarai, the BJP MP from Jagatsinghpur.
His itinerary also includes participation in various initiatives focused on the cooperative sector, dairy development, youth empowerment, and the welfare of farmers.
Later in the day, Shah will lay the foundation stone for the Bhubaneswar campuses of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Khurda district. Additionally, he will virtually inaugurate the NFSU transit campus and open an exhibition centred on the nation’s new criminal laws, officials said.
In preparation for the high-profile visit, the state has implemented rigorous security measures and traffic restrictions. The Superintendents of Police for Khurda, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur, along with the Bhubaneswar DCP, have been placed on high alert.
To ensure comprehensive safety, the Cuttack district administration has declared a 5-km radius around the Mundali CISF campus as a ‘No Drone Zone’ effective from March 3 through March 6, officials added.
