General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), began a three-day tour of Odisha on Friday evening, highlighted by a high-level meeting with Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati in Bhubaneswar.
The governor and Gen Dwivedi together visited Atal Van, an ecological park inside the Lok Bhavan premises.
In a post on X, Kambhampati shared pictures of their interaction. He said, “General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff, called on me at Lok Bhavan today. I congratulated him and the Indian Army on the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which reflects their unwavering dedication and exemplary service to the nation.”
Following their discussion, the two leaders visited Atal Van, a serene ecological park on the Lok Bhavan premises dedicated to the memory of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Governor noted that the space serves as a poignant intersection of environmental conservation and national pride.

“The T-55 battle tank installed at the Atal Van stands as a proud symbol of the Indian Army’s role in the 1971 war and the courage of our brave soldiers,” he said.
General Dwivedi arrived in the capital earlier in the afternoon and proceeded to the 120th Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army), where he met personnel before staying overnight.
According to the itinerary, the Army Chief will visit Puri on Saturday, where he will go to Sainik Sadan, and offer prayers at the Jagannath Temple before leaving for Gopalpur in Ganjam district.
In Gopalpur, he will visit the military station and the Army Air Defence College.
During the visit, Gen Dwivedi will review training infrastructure, modern equipment and operational preparedness of the forces, officials said.
The Army Chief is scheduled to return to New Delhi on March 29.
