State-owned engineering giant Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), on Friday, announced that it has secured a massive order worth over Rs 6,650 crore (excluding GST) from NTPC Ltd.

The deal is for setting up an 800-MW unit at the Darlipali Supercritical Thermal Power Project Stage-II in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

In an exchange filing, BHEL said, “BHEL has received a notification of award from NTPC Ltd for 1×800 MW Darlipali STPP, Stage-II.”

The nature of the contract is EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) work. This comprehensive scope includes design, engineering, supply of equipment along with erection & commissioning and civil works.

Broad consideration or size of the order is over Rs 6,650 crore excluding GST, the filing said.

In the regulatory filing, BHEL also informed that the completion of the work is expected within 48 months from the date the PSU received the notification of the award.
