The Odisha government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, is set to host a grand three-day Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO-2026) conclave in Bhubaneswar, starting January 21. The event aims to bolster rural livelihoods and drive economic prosperity for the state’s farming community.

During a press briefing on Monday, Gokulananda Mallik, Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, described the upcoming conclave as a premier platform for fostering innovation and awareness among fish and livestock farmers.

The Minister also detailed ongoing initiatives being taken to make Odisha self-reliant in the production of fish, milk, meat, and eggs.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate MPSO-2026, which is centred on the theme “Innovative interventions in Fisheries and Livestock for Vikashit Odisha.” The event will take place at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar from January 21 to January 23.

The valedictory session will be graced by the Governor of Odisha Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati.

Official sources said that more than 8,000 participants, including farmers, entrepreneurs, and members of Women Self-Help Groups (WSHGs) from every block in the state, are expected to attend over the course of the three-day event.

In recognition of excellence in the field, 348 farmers and entrepreneurs—representing six individuals from each sub-division—will be honoured as ‘Champions’ for their outstanding contributions to fish and livestock farming.

Furthermore, the top 20 officers from the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (ARD) sector will be felicitated for their dedication to the growth and development of the industry.

A unique ‘Ask the Minister’ session will be a highlight of the conclave, providing a direct channel for farmers from across Odisha to pose questions and seek guidance from the Fisheries Minister.

“The convention will provide a platform where farmers can directly raise their questions and concerns. We will make every effort to address these issues and find practical solutions,” he said, adding that senior officials and subject experts will engage in open discussions with stakeholders.

Several other programmes, panel discussions, and exhibitions will be held during the three-day grand MPSO-2026 conclave.
