At least 20 passengers sustained injuries, including two who are in critical condition, after a bus veered off the road and crashed into a roadside hillock in Odisha’s Gajapati district on Saturday, according to police reports.
The accident occurred near Chandiput under the jurisdiction of Mohana police station in the Gajapati district.
The two passengers with severe injuries have been referred to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital for specialized treatment, while the remaining injured were taken to local medical centers in the Mohana and Chandragiri areas
According to Basant Kumar Sethy, the officer-in-charge of Mohana police station, the bus was traveling from Chandiput to Luhagudi when the driver lost control and slammed into the hillock while attempting to overtake another vehicle.
Local people and police, after receiving information, rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons and sent them to hospitals, police said.
