Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to hoist the National Flag and take the ceremonial salute at the state-level Independence Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar on August 15.
As per the official event schedule released by the state government, while CM Majhi will deliver the Independence Day address in the capital on Saturday, Deputy Chief Ministers K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida will hoist the tricolour in Kalahandi and Sundargarh, respectively.
The state cabinet members have been assigned the privilege in different districts. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari will preside over the programme in Cuttack, while Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik has been assigned the responsibility in Angul.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond is scheduled to attend the ceremony in Malkangiri, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister K C Patra in Sambalpur, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan in Ganjam, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling in Rayagada, Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena in Kandhamal, and Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra in Khurda, respectively.
Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia will lead the I-Day programme in Puri, while Higher Education, Sports and Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, Fisheries and Animal Resources Minister Gokulananda Mallik, and Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain have been deputed to Balangir, Baleshwar, Gajapati, and Koraput, respectively.
In the remaining districts, senior officers will carry out the flag hoisting duties. The Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Central Division) will preside in Jagatsinghpur, while the RDC (Southern Division) will lead the event in Brahmapur.
District Collectors have been tasked with leading the Independence Day celebrations across Bargarh, Bhadrak, Boudh, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Nuapada, and Subarnapur.
Additionally, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Rourkela will oversee the official Independence Day programme in the steel city.
