Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday urged families across the state to light an earthen lamp at their homes, temples or at other prominent places on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birth anniversary on September 17.

Majhi also requested citizens to share photos and videos of their ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ across social media platforms.

In a video message, the Chief Minister highlighted Modi’s five decades of “selfless service” serving as both the Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Prime Minister of India.

“Modi ji has devoted his life to building a strong, prosperous and self-reliant India. Let every diya carry our love, gratitude and prayers for his long, healthy and blessed life,” the CM said.

Majhi announced that the Odisha government will observe a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhijan’ starting September 17 to commemorate the Prime Minister’s birthday.

Throughout the month, a series of public service initiatives, including tree plantation drives and blood donation camps, will be conducted across the state.

Meanwhile, CM Majhi, alongside Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal, state in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, state ministers, and MLAs, attended a high-level preparatory meeting in the city to finalize arrangements for the September 17 events.
