Eleven new Additional District Judge (ADJ) courts will be established in Odisha to ensure the delivery of speedy justice to the people, according to a state notification issued on Monday.
The state Law Department issued the notification in this regard on Monday. Three of the 11 ADJ courts are ADJ (Vigilance) courts in different districts.
According to the Department of Law’s official notification, these Additional District Judge (Vigilance) courts will be set up in Puri, Nayagarh, and Kendrapada districts.
The move comes under the powers granted by Section 3 and Sub-section (1) of Section 9, read with Section 10 of the Odisha Civil Courts Act, 1984 (Odisha Act 18 of 1984), and Sub-section (1) of Section 8 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
This apart, the Additional District Judge Courts will also be set up at Pipili in Puri district, Ranpur in Nayagarh, Banpur in Khurda, Basudevpur in Bhadrak, Talcher in Angul, Rajgangpur in Sundargarh, Banki in Cuttack and G Udaygiri in Kandhamal district.
These courts have also been established under the Odisha Civil Courts Act, 1984, with approval from the Orissa High Court.
