Members of the Odisha Mahila Congress staged a statewide protest on Tuesday, intensifying their demand for the immediate removal of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The women’s wing of the Congress party demanded Puri’s resignation over his alleged links to the Epstein Files, a cache of documents related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Led by state president Minakshi Bahinipati, the activists of Mahina Congress gathered in front of the Congress Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, holding posters, banners, and party flags.
The protesters, many of whom wore T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan “The PM is compromised,” also launched a signature campaign to garner public support for their demand
Following directives from the All India Mahila Congress, the protests were organised in every district across Odisha.
Bahinipati stated that the revelations in the Epstein Files, which detail the horrific sexual exploitation of minors, have shocked the global community. “Union Minister Puri has been named in these files. On moral grounds, we demand his removal from the Union Cabinet,” she said.
She also alleged that the Union government has not allowed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to speak about the Epstein Files on the floor of the Parliament.
