In a tragic incident, a 30-year-old man and his minor son lost their lives after being struck by a train in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Sunday evening, according to police reports.
The deceased were identified as Bisu Penthei (30) and his 18-month-old son, Dharama. They were residents of Naya Bagapatia village under Sukinda block of Jajpur district, the police said.
The fatal mishap occurred near Naubahali under Sukinda police station limits.
Upon receiving information, the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examinations.
The GRP has registered a case and initiated an inquiry into the matter, a GRP official stated.
The exact circumstances leading up to the fatal collision remains unclear at this stage, he said.
“We have sent the body for postmortem and are waiting for its report. The exact reason behind the incident can only be ascertained after receiving the post-mortem report,” the official explained.
