Ahead of the Diwali festival, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced a three per cent increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees.
The DA rate has now increased from 55 per cent to 58 per cent, according to an official release.
The increased DA rate will be effective retroactively from July 1, 2025.
The retroactive increase means that when the next paycheck arrives, employees will benefit from both the new, higher 58p per cent DA rate and a lump sum payment covering the salary difference accrued since the July 1 effective date.
Similarly, the dearness relief (DR) for pensioners has also been increased by three per cent.
The decision will benefit about 8.5 lakh government employees and pensioners in Odisha, the release said.
