Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated on Monday that true achievement in public administration is evaluated not by an official’s rank, but by the tangible impact created in the daily lives of citizens.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while speaking at the distribution of appointment letters to newly recruited personnel at the 16th Rozgar Mela held in Bhubaneswar.
During the state-level job fair held in the capital, Majhi handed out employment offers to 1,326 successful candidates joining nine distinct departments within the state government.
The recruitments span various sectors, including Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Energy, Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Health & Family Welfare, Fisheries & Animal Resources, Sports & Youth Services, Skill Development & Technical Education, and Excise.
Extending his congratulations to the new hires, Majhi emphasized that public service remains the fundamental goal of government employment. He told them it was their moral duty to ensure time‑bound resolution of people’s problems and grievances.
“Whenever a person approaches you with a problem, listening with respect and taking prompt action is true public service. We aim to ensure that all government benefits and services reach the last mile of society. Perform your duty keeping this in mind,” he said.
He added that an extensive recruitment push has been initiated across both public and private sectors, keeping in view the need for clean and strong governance and efficient, disciplined and service‑oriented officers and employees. The strategy aims to realize the vision of a ‘Samruddha Odisha’ by 2036 while fueling the broader goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
The Chief Minister shared that the state administration has successfully delivered 45,408 government jobs since June 2024.
Highlighting the critical role of industrial growth in tapping into youth potential, Majhi noted that the government has making sustained efforts to promote industrial growth in the state over the past two years.
He pointed out that these efforts have successfully attracted investment proposals valued at approximately Rs 21 lakh crore over the last two years, which are projected to generate around 20 lakh new jobs.
Pointing to the recent Odisha Food Processing Roadshow conducted in New Delhi and Noida held two days ago, CM Majhi highlighted that he engaged in 46 meetings with 208 investors, culminating in 38 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signings. These agreements represent an investment commitments totalling Rs 66,392 crore and are anticipated to generate 54,135 job opportunities.
Observing that a trend of reverse migration has commenced in Odisha, the Chief Minister said the state would witness significant changes in industrialisation and employment in the coming days.
