Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi discussed with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to ensure the safe repatriation of state residents currently living or stranded in West Asia, Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said on Sunday.
Addressing a media query regarding the rescue of Odias from the conflict zone, Harichandan stated that the Chief Minister has been in direct contact with the MEA and expected their return to Odisha very shortly.
“Our chief minister held a discussion with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and very shortly the people, who belong to our state, would return to Odisha,” the state law minister said.
The Minister noted that the Prime Minister and the MEA are spearheading comprehensive efforts to evacuate all Indian citizens from the affected region.
Harichandan assured that the government’s evacuation plans are proceeding on schedule, emphasizing the goal that no Indian citizen will be left behind and everyone will be safely brought back to India.
“The government has made all plans, and everything is on schedule. Most likely, all these people (Indians)…not a single person will be left behind … everybody will be rescued and brought back to India,” the minister said.
These rescue efforts come in the wake of a major joint attack launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on Saturday, which reportedly resulted in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei early Sunday morning.
Due to the airspace restrictions following the joint attack and retaliatory action by Iran, hundreds of flights have been disrupted across West Asia and in other countries, including India.
