In a major reshuffle in the police administration in the state, the Odisha government has transferred and reassigned 17 IPS officers, a notification in this regard was issued by the home department today.
According to the notification, senior IPS officer Santosh Bala (1995 batch) has been appointed as the Director of the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL), while S Praveen Kumar (2002 batch), currently serving as IG, Central Range, has been posted as IG (Provisioning).
Gajbhiyye Satish Kumar Iswardas (IPS, 2002 batch) has been appointed as IG of Police (Special Armed Police), and Sanjay Kumar Kaushal (IPS, 2003 batch) has been transferred to Economic Offences Wing (EOW) as the IG of Police.
Satyajit Naik, DIG, Eastern Range, has been transferred to Central Range. Naik will replace Praveen Kumar. Pinak Mishra, currently posted as Puri SP, will take over as DIG, Eastern Range.
Other notable changes are – Avinash Kumar (IPS, 2007) has been appointed as the head of the State Crime Records Bureau.
Among the reshuffles in the SP level, Prateek Singh (IPS, 2014) has been posted as Puri SP while Vivekanand Sharma as Khurda SP and Parmar Smit Parshottamdas as SP Crime Branch. Gundala Reddy Raghavendra (IPS, 2019) will now be SP, Jharsuguda, while Ms. Amritpal Kaur (IPS, 2021) has been posted as SP, Sundargarh.
During the day today, the Odisha Home Department also issued a notification announcing the transfer and posting of 12 senior officers from the Odisha Police Service (OPS).
While Bimalendu Satapathy, OPS (SAG), who is currently deployed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) at the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate, has been transferred as Superintendent of Police, State Police Headquarters, Cuttack, Kishore Chandra Mund, OPS (S), currently serving as Additional DCP, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, has been promoted and posted as DCP, Police Commissionerate.
Similarly, Anup Kumar Kanungo, OPS (S), who is also In-situ Additional DCP, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate, has been promoted as DCP, Police Commissionerate.
Srikanta Kumar Behera, Additional SP at the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack, has been appointed as SP, EOW. Bhawani Shankar Udgata (OPS) has been reassigned as SP, Railway, Cuttack.
