A minor fire broke out in the record room of the Odisha Lokayukta office on Thursday, resulting in the destruction of several documents inside it.
An official said authorities suspect an electrical short circuit triggered the blaze within the office premises located at Toshali Bhawan in the Satyanagar area of Bhubaneswar.
The incident occurred around 10 am in one part of the record room of the office, informed Manoranjan Rout, the Assistant Fire Officer of Bhubaneswar.
Two fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and managed to douse the flames from spreading to other parts of the building, with the fire being successfully extinguished within 15 to 20 minutes, he said.
While the full extent of the loss is being assessed, Rout said that some documents stored on a rack, along with various other materials, were damaged in the heat and smoke.
“The fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit,” he added.
