The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has estimated a total credit potential of Rs 3.15 lakh crore for Odisha’s priority sectors during the 2026-27 fiscal year.
On Tuesday, NABARD conducted the state’s credit seminar for 2026-27, in which the State Focus Paper for Odisha was released, projecting an overall credit potential under the priority sector at Rs 3.15 lakh crore for 2026-27, against the previous year’s estimation of Rs 2.52 lakh crore.
The MSME sector commands the largest portion of this projection, at Rs 1.52 lakh crore, while the agriculture sector accounts for Rs 1.14 lakh crore. Officials noted that the remaining funds are distributed among other critical areas, including housing, education, renewable energy, social infrastructure, and export credit.
Inaugurating the seminar, Chief Secretary Anu Garg emphasised the state government’s commitment to its ‘Vision 2036’blueprint. She called upon all stakeholders to contribute toward the goal of transforming Odisha into a developed state by 2036 and achieving a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047.
“Fulfilling Odisha’s ‘Vision 2036’ aspirations would require sincere efforts from one and all – the state government, public as well as private sectors. The banks must be well prepared to provide the enhanced credit,” she said.
