The death toll from a firecracker explosion in Odisha’s Nayagarh district rose to four on Wednesday, according to police.
The blast occurred on April 3 at Korada village under the Nuagaon police station limits, while firecrackers were being manufactured. A total of six individuals, including a minor boy, had sustained severe burn injuries during the incident.
“One individual passed away while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Saturday. Three others succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital on Tuesday and Wednesday. Two people remain under medical care,” an officer stated.
Police have registered a case in this regard. Authorities have arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in the illegal manufacture of the firecrackers.
