The India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Wednesday, predicted heavy rainfall in Odisha over the next two days. This is due to a cyclonic circulation that is currently over the southern part of the state and adjoining northern coastal region of Andhra Pradesh.
According to a mid-day bulletin from the Meteorologican Centre in Bhubaneswar, “The upper air cyclonic circulation over South Odisha and north Coastal Andhra Pradesh persists and now extends upto 3.1 km above mean sea level.”
There were light to moderate showers in some areas of the state, with the highest rainfall of 6 cm recorded in Tentulikhunti in Nabarangpur district, the Met Centre said in the bulletin.
Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Bhubaneswar Met Centre, stated that more rainfall is expected because of the upper air cyclonic circulation over south Odisha and north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
