A 14-year-old boy in Odisha’s Kendrapara was taken into police custody on Saturday after he allegedly brandished a country-made revolver and threatened his headmaster inside the classroom.

The incident reportedly occurred at the government-run Korua High School in the Kendrapara district.

The Class 9 student was reportedly angered after being scolded by the headmaster and other teachers for neglecting his studies and causing disruption in the classroom, prompting him to pull out the firearm, police said.

Following his detention, the minor was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and subsequently sent to the Probation Hostel-cum-Observation Home & Special Home in Angul, they said.

“We are questioning his parents and relatives as to how he obtained the firearm,” the police officer said.

Police have seized the revolver and initiated an investigation.
