Odisha leaders, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy CM KV Singh Deo, Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, along with others, on Thursday, condoled the tragic demise of Agnivesh Agarwal, the son of Vedanta Group founder and chairman Anil Agarwal.
49-year-old Agnivesh, who was on the board of Vedanta group firm Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), got injured in a skiing accident in the US and was recovering at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York when he died of a sudden cardiac arrest, according to Anil Agarwal’s X post on Wednesday.
Notably, the Vedanta Group has invested over Rs 1 lakh-crore in Odisha, establishing a refinery, a smelter, and a power station in the state.
Taking to his official X account, Chief Minister Majhi wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Shri Agnivesh Agarwal. This is an immense loss, and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. May Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath bless you with strength and courage to bear this grief. Naveen Patnaik, in a social media post, said, “My deep sympathy to you and your family on the untimely passing away of your son Shri Agnivesh. Om Shanti.”
