The Odisha government on Tuesday increased the salary for contractual readers and professors serving at state-run ayurvedic and homoeopathic medical colleges, informed officials.

As per a notification issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, the monthly salary for these positions has been doubled, with readers now set to receive Rs 80,000 and professors Rs 1,00,000, respectively.

Furthermore, contractual lecturers will now be entitled to a fixed monthly salary of Rs 70,000, addressing a previous lack of standardised pay for the role.

Thanking Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for the decision, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling stated that the initiative is designed to bolster Ayush education across the state while providing significant motivation to the teaching faculty.
