Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, on Thursday, said the Odisha government has spent a total of Rs 380.95 crore on advertising over the last three financial years.
Majhi said this while replying to a question by Congress MLA Sofia Firdous in the Odisha assembly.
Majhi said that the government has spent Rs 86.28 crore in advertisement during 2022-23, and this amount significantly increased to Rs 186.60 crore in the election year of 2023-24.
In the 2024-25 fiscal year, the expenditure on advertisement was Rs 108.06 crore, the CM said.
The majority of this advertising budget was allocated to newspaper advertisements, which received the highest share at Rs 344.30 crore. In comparison, Rs 20.23 crore was spent on electronic media advertisements, and Rs 16.41 crore was utilized for hoardings, the CM added.
“These advertisements have been issued to propagate the benefits available under different schemes funded by the government, state and central,” Majhi said.
