Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Thursday opened a new telemedicine centre at a hospital in Kalahandi district.
The digital healthcare initiative is designed to provide critical medical support to residents living in nearly 70 remote villages.
During the inauguration, Mahaling emphasised that the “24×7 telemedicine service” represents a significant advancement in bridging the healthcare gap. He noted that the facility is specifically tailored to meet the needs of remote tribal and rural communities throughout the Kalahandi region.

The facility has been set up within the Vedanta Lanjigarh Hospital in the district.
The facility aims to provide consistent medical expertise to areas where physical access to specialists is often limited.
According to company’s statement, the initiative is projected to “benefit over 70,000 people across nearly 70 remote villages in Kalahandi and adjoining regions.”
