The Odisha government on Tuesday signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with 10 prominent organisations to enhance healthcare delivery, drive medical innovation, and foster institutional collaboration across the state.
The state Health and Family Welfare Department signed the agreements with the organisations in the presence of Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling.
The partner institutions include the Centre for Emergency and Trauma Care at AIIMS New Delhi, All India Institute of Ayurveda, Amrita Hospital, Tata Steel Foundation, I-HUB, Antara Foundation, Health System Transformation Platform, Sevadaan Aarogya Foundation, IFC-Transaction Advisory Services, Kaivalya Education Foundation, and the Quality Council of India.
Speaking at the signing, Minister Mahaling described the initiative as a major step toward fostering research, driving innovation, and providing accessible, efficient, and people-centered medical services across the state.
Highlighting the landmark agreement signed with AIIMS New Delhi, the minister noted that the partnership focuses directly on upgrading trauma care infrastructure and response capabilities across Odisha.
As per the arrangement, selected medical colleges and district headquarters hospitals will be developed into centres of excellence for trauma care under the direct guidance of AIIMS Delhi, alongside broader steps to strengthen state-wide trauma services.
Additionally, the collaboration with the All India Institute of Ayurveda aims to integrate traditional Indian medicine systems into the healthcare framework, while Gujarat-based I-Hub will support startup growth, medical innovation, and modernized pedagogical tools in medical education, he pointed out.
The state also plans to upgrade diagnostic laboratories at district headquarters and sub-district hospitals to meet NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) standards.
To assist patient families, the Sevadaan Aarogya Foundation will set up dedicated restroom facilities across six government medical colleges and hospitals, providing safe and comfortable lodging for attendants.
Furthermore, the agreement with Amrita Hospital, Kochi, will facilitate specialized free health camps in remote areas to screen children for congenital and acquired heart conditions.
