A police inspector was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly having sexual relations with a woman sub-inspector under the false promise of marriage.
The Mahila Police arrested Yoshobant Acharya, a resident of Kandhamal district.
Acharya was arrested based on a case registered at the Mahila police station in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday after the victim lodged a complaint.
According to the police, the inspector allegedly established a physical relationship with the woman officer by promising to marry her, but he later married another person.
Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena said, “We have arrested the police inspector (armed) and registered a case under Section 69 of BNS (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means) and forwarded him to the court.”
