Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday stated that securing a position among the top five states in NITI Aayog’s Investment Friendliness Index marks a significant step forward, though not the final goal, of the state’s ongoing development roadmap.

Securing an overall score of 52.4, Odisha earned a spot in the “top performers” tier alongside Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Goa in the newly established index – India’s comprehensive, evidence-based framework for evaluating the investment ecosystem of all states and Union territories.

The index measures state performance through eight core pillars: infrastructure, business climate, resources, government policy, regulatory ease, institutional environment, financial health and environmental resilience to benchmark states and promote competitive and cooperative federalism.

In a statement, CM Majhi said, “This achievement is not our destination but another milestone in Odisha’s development journey. Together, we will continue to build a stronger economy, create quality employment for our youth, attract greater investments and realise the vision of Samruddha Odisha by 2036, contributing meaningfully to the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.”

The Chief Minister also extended his appreciation to the citizens of Odisha, state government departments, industry partners, entrepreneurs, investors and public servants after the state’s recognition.

Majhi emphasised that the accomplishment highlights the administration’s unwavering commitment to accountable governance, strategic regulatory updates, investor-focused facilitation, and sustainable industrial development.

He added that the state government has actively accelerated the expansion of modern industrial infrastructure by establishing integrated industrial parks, developing dedicated freight corridors, ensuring power stability, upgrading connectivity, and fostering specialized sector ecosystems.
