Odisha Vigilance officials seized 300 grams of gold and Rs 7.29 lakh in cash from the possession of a district labour officer who was caught red-handed accepting a Rs 20,000 bribe, official said on Monday.
Acting on a complaint, vigilance sleuths intercepted Akash Bisoi, District Labour Officer (DLO), Kendujhar, while he was demanding and accepting the Rs 20,000 bribe from an electrical contractor to issue a labour license for the contractor’s firm, they said.
Following the successful trap, vigilance teams carried out simultaneous searches at two locations associated with Bisoi, uncovering Rs 7,29,200 in cash alongside 300 grams of gold jewelry inside his official residential quarters in Kendujhar, a vigilance officer reported.

The anti-corruption agency has registered a case against Bisoi at the Baleshwar Vigilance Station under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation in connection with the case is underway.
