The Odisha Vigilance Department, on Thursday, July 3, conducted simultaneous raids on the properties and office of a government engineer located at six locations in three districts of the state in connection with a probe on charges of acquisition of disproportionate assets (DA), an official said.

The Vigilance sleuths launched the search operation against Dileswar Majhi, assistant executive engineer (AEE) at the Titlagarh R&B Sub-Division, under Kantabanji R&B Division of Bolangir district, following allegations that he amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income, a press release said.

The Vigilance department team, comprising five deputy superintendents of police, eight inspectors, two ASIs, and other supporting staff, on the strength of search warrants issued by, Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir, conducted searches at six places in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Bolangir districts.

The anti-corruption team searched one double storeyed building located at Sambalpur Town located in Unit-16 (Sarla) of Sambalpur district, one double storeyed building at Gandaghora Mouza in Brajrajnagar Unit-II of Jharsuguda district, a market complex located at Gandaghora under Mouza Brajrajnagar of Jharsuguda district, two housing board houses at Lahandabud in Jharsuguda district, his office chamber located in the office of R & B Division in Bolangir’s Kantabanji and government quarter located at Titlagarh, respectively.

During the raids conducted till 12.30 pm, as per media report, the anti-corruption department detected four buildings, a market complex, nine high-value plots, Rs 6.57 lakh in cash, 300 grams of gold, bank deposits worth Rs 20 lakh, a car and two motorcycles from his possession, the official informed.

The officer said that the raids are continuing and it was expected that more properties would be detected.

Dileswar Majhi started his government service as Junior Engineer (JE) under Works Department in 1999 and posted at Ambaghona Block in Bargarh district.

In 2001, Majhi was transferred to Rengali Block in Sambalpur district as JE and he continued to serve there till 2003.From 2003 to 2007, he served as JE in different blocks under Jharsuguda district.

Later from 2008 to 2013, Majhi worked as JE under Kantabanji R&B Division in Bolangir and subsequently in 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Engineer and worked under different divisions under R&B Division in Bargarh.

In 2022, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) and posted in Titlgarh R&B Sub-Division.
