Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure area would form over the same region, the IMD’s bulletin informed.

Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, said that this system would bring heavy rainfall to the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, and Keonjhar before 8.30 AM on Thursday.

Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and winds of 30-40 kmph are expected in most parts of the state, with the exception of the southern region during this period, she said.

An Orange warning (be prepared to take action) has been issued by the IMD centre for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri and Koraput districts for Thursday.

The director also informed that the maximum impact of the anticipated low-pressure area will be felt on July 25. On this day, extreme rainfall is predicted for Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts, with many other parts of Odisha experiencing heavy to normal rainfall.
