The ceremony marked the successful culmination of the ab-initio training of a total of 2,010 Agniveers, including over 309 women Agniveers and 276 Naviks (General Duty) from the Indian Coast Guard, who have undergone 16 weeks of intensive and rigorous training.

The parade was reviewed by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, and was conducted by Commodore B Deepak Aneel, Commanding Officer of INS Chilka.

The post-sunset ceremony was witnessed by parents, veterans, eminent sports personalities and others.

The POP also signifies a defining chapter in the life of Agniveers as it heralds their voyage in the Combat Ready, Credible, Cohesive and Future Ready Indian Navy, an official statement said.

INS Chilka plays a key role in the smooth transition of the raw recruits into capable sea warriors who carry forward discipline, resilience and professional skills to serve onboard advanced Naval platforms, the statement added.

As part of the event, FOCINC East witnessed the valedictory function and present awards/ trophies to meritorious trainees, the champion division and unveiled the bilingual  trainees’ magazine ‘Ankur’.
