A dramatic rescue operation took place late Wednesday night at the Bali Jatra in Cuttack after a mechanical swing suddenly malfunctioned and stopped mid-motion, leaving eight people stranded approximately 30 feet above the ground.

Police said the incident occurred at around 11 PM when the swing suddenly stopped as the eight visitors to Bali Jatra were on it.

All eight people, including a woman and two children, endured a terrifying ordeal for nearly two hours. Family members reported that the victims were “utterly panicked” while stuck high above the ground.

Police and emergency services responded quickly. All eight stranded visitors were successfully rescued using a hydraulic lift.

Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo and other senior officers monitored the rescue operation.
“All the persons trapped on the swing have been rescued,” the DCP said.
Those rescued were later taken to the hospital for medical examination.
