Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Odisha on September 27 to address a public meeting in Berhampur, according to the information given the state Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari on Saturday.

While the final itinerary for the Prime Minister’s visit has not yet been confirmed, preparations are already underway, said the Minister.

This will be Modi’s sixth visit to Odisha in the past 15 months, since the BJP formed the government in the state, he added.

“The PM has given his consent to visit Odisha on September 27,” Pujari informed reporters.

“Our Commerce and Transport Minister, Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, has already begun preparations, and I will be in Berhampur starting September 15,” Pujari added.

Modi is scheduled to attend the BJP’s ‘Seva Pakshya’ program, which will start from his birthday on September 17 until Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, the minister further stated.

PM Modi’s most recent visit to the coastal state was on June 20, for the first-anniversary celebrations of the BJP government in Odisha.

Pujari mentioned that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, during his recent trip to Delhi, had invited the Prime Minister to come to Odisha on September 17, but it was not possible due to prior commitments.

He said the state government has sent the tentative programme to the PMO, which will finalise the itinerary for September 27.

He said the state government has submitted a tentative schedule to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), which will give final approval for the itinerary for the September 27 visit.

To mark the Prime Minister’s 75th birth anniversary, the BJP and the state government have planned to plant 75 lakh saplings on September 17.

Pujari also stated that during the ‘Seva Pakshya’ period, state BJP workers are planning to organize blood donation camps, health check-ups, sanitation drives, and various community assistance programs.
