The Odisha government has started extensive preparations for President Droupadi Murmu’s upcoming six-day visit to her home state, scheduled to begin on February 2.
During her visit to the state, she will launch various development projects in her native Mayurbhanj district and attend the convocation ceremony of a university in Balasore, among other programmes.
During a high-level preparatory meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan on Thursday, Chief Secretary Anu Garg instructed all departments, district administrations, and police forces to ensure flawless execution of the visit. The Chief Secretary directed secretaries, district collectors, and Superintendents of Police to personally oversee their designated programmes and maintain zero-error standards.
The comprehensive discussion addressed critical logistics, including airport reception protocols, high-level security, fire safety, sanitation, and the provision of uninterrupted power and water supplies with backup generators, road repairs, sanitation, drinking water, stage setup, barricading, passes, and media coverage.
A control room will be operated by the Home Department for overall coordination.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, DGP Y B Khurania, DG Fire Services Sudhanshu Shadangi, Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Arabinda Kumar Padhee, and representatives from various departments. District collectors and SPs from Jajpur, Balasore, Puri, and Mayurbhanj joined virtually to update on local preparations.
To ensure seamless communication across the various districts involved, a dedicated control room will be managed by the Home Department for the duration of the tour.
The visit is expected to highlight Odisha’s cultural heritage, educational institutions, and development initiatives, especially in tribal and rural areas. Extensive security and logistical arrangements are being put in place across all venues, an official release said.
President Odisha Visit: President Droupadi Murmu’s Itinerary
President Murmu’s schedule involves a packed series of religious, educational, and developmental engagements across five districts.
Initial Arrival and Jajpur-Balasore Leg
Murmu will arrive in Bhubaneswar on the evening of February 2 and stay the night at the Lok Bhawan, an official statement said.
On February 3, she will visit Jajpur in the morning to offer prayers at Maa Biraja Temple, and then proceed to Balasore to attend the 12th convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University, the statement said.
President’s visit to Puri and Mayurbhanj
In the evening, she will visit Puri for the darshan of the deities at the Shree Jagannath Temple, where she will participate in the evening aarti and perform the ‘Pind Dadan’ ritual in honour of her ancestors.
Engagements in Mayurbhanj and Similipal
On February 4, the President will tour her native Mayurbhanj district, where she will inaugurate a holiday home at Mahuldiha in Rairangpur and visit a girls’ higher secondary school run by the Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste Development Department.
She is also scheduled to unveil the statue of Bhanj Bir Sunaram Soren and inaugurate a sports complex at Baidpur, besides laying foundation stones and inaugurating various development projects in Rairangpur.
Murmu will attend a programme at the Rairangpur Jagannath Temple on February 5, and also visit the Similipal National Park, the statement said.
President to attend ‘Black Swan Summit’ in Bhubaneswar
On February 6, she will interact with women and tribal youth groups in the morning.
The President’s tour will conclude after attending the ‘Black Swan Summit’, an event jointly organised by the Odisha Government and the Global Finance Technology Network, in Bhubaneswar, in the evening, as the chief guest.
He will then depart for Chhattisgarh from Bhubaneswar on the morning of February 7, it said.
