President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to embark on a day-long visit to Odisha on April 21, as announced in a statement from her the President’s office on Monday.

She will visit Rourkela in Sundergarh district and address a public meeting and launch several welfare projects, officials earlier said.

She is set to inaugurate a Planetarium and Science Centre, along with the Nirmal Munda Parivesh Path, during a public function held in Rourkela.

President Murmu will inaugurate a Tribal Museum and an Integrated Command and Control Centre in Rourkela.

Earlier on April 18, Chief Secretary Anu Garg held a review meeting to oversee preparations for the President’s visit. DGP Y B Khurania, along with senior police officers, joined the meeting virtually to finalise security arrangements.

Murmu will arrive at Jharsuguda airport at 10:25 am on April 21, and proceed to Rourkela by helicopter, an official release said.

After addressing the public meeting at Sector-13 in Rourkela and inaugurating welfare projects, including the Integrated Command Control Centre building, Science Park and Planetarium, and Promod Udyan in Koel Nagar, Murmu will visit the Tribal Museum and the Command Control Centre.

She is expected to depart from Rourkela in the afternoon, returning via Jharsuguda to New Delhi by 4:50 pm, the release said.
