Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy and Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida tied rakhis on Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s wrist on Friday during a function held to disburse the fifth instalment of financial aid to women beneficiaries under the state’s flagship Subhadra scheme.
Expressing his gratitude on X, Majhi shared pictures from the event, stating that he was deeply thankful for the affection and love shown by Speaker Padhy and Deputy CM Parida on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
Majhi’s post read, “On this auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan today, the Hon’ble Speaker Smt. Surama Padhi and the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Pravati Parida tied rakhi to me. I am grateful for your affection and love.”
Parida, in her social media post, said, “On the sacred occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Honorable Chief Minister Shri @MohanMOdisha was tied a Rakhi and received blessings. On this auspicious occasion, on behalf of all Subhadra sisters in Odisha, heartfelt best wishes were conveyed to the Honorable Chief Minister. #Subhadra #SubhadraYojana.”
Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi emphasized that empowering a woman leads to the empowerment of the entire family.
He highlighted that the financial assistance provided under the Subhadra scheme has transformed the financial status of lakhs of women in the state, ushering in a new chapter of self-reliance.
“From villages to cities — today, it’s the victory song of women’s power. In Odisha’s history, a new era of self-reliance… the Subhadra scheme,” Majhi said in a social media post.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik celebrated Raksha Bandhan at Naveen Niwas on Thursday, where senior party MLAs including Pramila Mallik and Tukuni Sahu tied rakhis on his wrist.
“May the sacred bond of trust and security always remain unbreakable. Heartfelt wishes on Raksha Bandhan Full Moon. #RakhiPurnima,” Patnaik said in an X post.
