The Odisha government will disburse Rs 250 crore to a total of 4,57,681 women beneficiaries under the Subhadra Yojana by January 18, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced on Tuesday.
“Of the 4,57,681 eligible women, 1,78,398 are new entrants to the scheme, while 2,55,265 beneficiaries will receive both their first and second instalments simultaneously,” stated Parida.
Parida, who has the Women and Child Development portfolio, further explained that following a rigorous scrutiny process and the grievance redressal mechanism, an additional 24,018 beneficiaries were identified as eligible for the State’s flagship program.
The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the total allocation of Rs 250 crore will be credited directly to the bank accounts of the identified 4,57,681 beneficiaries during this phase.
The Subhadra Yojana guarantees financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to eligible women over five years, with two annual instalments of Rs 5,000 each transferred via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
As a flagship initiative, the scheme aims to empower over 1 crore women across the state within the age bracket of 18 to 60 years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Subhadra Yojana in Bhubaneswar on September 17, 2024, to mark the occasion of his birthday.
The State Government had designated International Women’s Day on March 8 and the festival of Rakshabandhan as the two annual dates for the regular release of instalments.
