The CM announced that the financial assistance will be provided to the families of the victims from Odisha from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said in an official release.

A team of state government officials is present at the accident site and monitoring the relief and medical operations, the statement added.

In a post on X, the CMO wrote, “Honorable Chief Minister Shri @MohanMOdisha has announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the families of Odia individuals who lost their lives in an accident at a factory in Telangana. Additionally, a team of state government officials is present at the accident site, monitoring the rescue and medical operations.”

The eight Odia people who died in the blast were identified as Rajnala Jagan Mohan of Chhatrapur in Ganjam, Lagnajeet Duari of Paikarapur in Cuttack’s Tigiria, Manoj Rout of Parbatipur in Balasore’s Simulia, Dolagobinda Sahu of Erabanka in Jajpur’s Dharmasala, Chaita Bhadra and Ramesh Gauda of Nabarangpur, Siddharth Gouda of Mahanadapur in Ganjam and Prasant Mohapatra of Berhampur in Ganjam.

The bodies of the deceased have already reached their native places in Odisha.

So far, 39 people, 4 from the eastern state, have been killed and 33 injured in the powerful blast at the pharmaceutical manufacturing unit of Sigachi Industries in the Pashamylaram Industrial Area in Telangana’s Sangareddy district, on June 30. According to police, the explosion occurred around 9:30 am.

Sigachi Industries Ltd has also announced Rs 1 crore ex-gratia to the families of the deceased and offered full medical and rehabilitation to those injured in the accident.

Today, Sigachi Industries Ltd, in an update to the media, stated that out of the 33 injured people, 12 employees have been discharged, each provided with Rs 1 lakh as interim relief.

“The Company is grateful to the State Government of Telangana, the emergency team, their employees who have stepped up to manage various aspects of the accident in their plant in Pashamylaram, Telangana,” Sigachi said in the statement.

“Team members from Sigachi Industries are available around the clock at hospitals to provide emotional and logistical support to the affected families,” it added.

The Company confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, led by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana for review and investigation of the mishap and its underlying causes. Preliminary investigation findings are expected within 7 days. As such, it will refrain from commenting on the exact cause of the accident in order not to get ahead of the investigation. “For now, we stand by our earlier statement that the accident was not caused by a reactor explosion,” the company statement said.
