Former Odisha MLA Satya Bhusan Sahu passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. The veteran Congress politician was 73 years old.
He represented the Padampur constituency in the Odisha Legislative Assembly across three terms, winning elections in 1980, 1985, and 2004.
Expressing grief over the demise of Sahu, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said Sahu’s contribution as a legislator would be remembered.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Satya Bhusan Sahoo, the former MLA of Padampur. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for the peaceful departure of the departed soul. Om Shanti,” Majhi said in a social media post.
The former legislator’s mortal remains were brought to the Odisha Legislative Assembly premises, where Speaker Surama Padhy along with several cross-party leaders paid their final respects.
State Congress president Bhakta Charan Das also condoled Sahu’s death. He said Sahu’s dedicated service to the people of Padampur and his contribution as a committed Congress leader would always be remembered.
Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan expressed deep grief over the demise of former Padampur MLA Satyabhushan Sahu. He said Sahu’s public welfare work as a people’s representative will always be remembered and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
