A woman in Odisha’s Bolangir district allegedly died by suicide on Friday after jumping from a hospital building, devastated by the sudden passing of her husband, according to police.
The deceased has been identified as Padmini Bag, wife of Sevak Bag.
The couple, who hailed from Dumerbahal village under the Puintala police station limits, are survived by two children, aged six and three, police stated.
According to police authorities, Sevak Bag sustained critical injuries on Thursday night when an unidentified vehicle struck the auto-rickshaw he was riding in along National Highway-57, connecting Sonepur and Balangir.
He was rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning, a police official said.
Overcome by grief at the news of her husband’s death, Padmini reportedly lost her composure and jumped from the hospital premises while no one was around. Although she was rushed for emergency medical treatment, she eventually succumbed to her injuries, the officer added.
