At least two people, including a woman, lost their lives after being struck by lightning in a village located in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Monday, according to police.
The tragedy took place at Kashipal village within the Baripada Sadar police station limits while both individuals were making their way back home amidst severe rain and lightning.
They were rushed to the Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Rangamatiya in an ambulance, where attending doctors declared them brought dead, said Sasmita Mahanath, the Inspector-in-Charge of the Baripada Sadar police station.
The deceased persons have been identified as Katul Hansda (48) and Phulmani Hansda (40).
The police have registered a case of unnatural death, the IIC said.
